The Lady Devils soccer team hosted the 2A Brevard Blue Devils on Friday night in a non-conference matchup. Brevard came into the game in 2nd place in the Mountain Foothills Seven 2A conference. It would take 35 minutes for either team to get on the scoreboard. Brevard would score first off a free kick. The first half would end with Brevard holding a 1-0 lead.
With 12 minutes left in the second half, Freshman Karena Cline would take a corner kick finding Sophomore Emmie Fuller who would finish the goal. In non-conference play there is not any overtime, so the game would finish with a 1-1 tie. “We were okay with a tie tonight, after losing a 3rd Senior starter in the game. The girls were extremely tired after the Highlands game the night before.” said Coach Scott Cline.
Defensively Sophomore Anna Gray led the way with 16 Steals/Clears, followed by Freshman Karena Cline and Freshman Sophie Matz with 5. In goal Freshman Gracie Sutton recorded 7 goalkeeper saves.
