Candler – Thursday the Lady Devils traveled to Candler to face the Blue Ridge Sports Academy in nonconference softball action. Hannah Shuler tossed the first no-hitter of her career. The junior pitched a complete game (5 innings), walking 5 and striking out 6, while giving up 3 runs, only 1 was earned, in working the no-hitter.
The Lady Devil bats provided Shuler with the cushion she would need in the top of the first. Swain tallied 5 runs in the first, going on to score 13 and take a 13-3 win over the Guardians.
Maddie Spates and Haileigh Woodard provided the offensive spark with 3 hits each, Kandyce Crisp finished with a pair of hits. Tori Johnson scored a pair of runs while Woodard scored 3 times. Johnson and Savana Smith both tripled. Smith and Crisp drove in a pair of runs each.
Maddie Spates went 3-3 scoring 4 runs and driving in 2 more with her second home run of the season. She finished a triple shy of hitting for the cycle.
