Bryson City – Friday the Maroon Devils played host to the Franklin Panthers. As far as early season games go the two teams put on quite a show, one that would not be settled in 7 innings. Franklin scored 4 runs in the top of the 9th, while Swain rallied in the bottom of the 9th but came up just short, as Franklin took a tough 18-17 win over the Devils.
For Swain Gabe Lillard, Cameron Blankenship, Cooper Hyatt and Carter Hayes all tallied 3 hits. Lillard, Blankenship and Will Jenkins all drove in 3 runs on the evening. The Devils out hit Franklin 19-13, but had 7 errors.
