Valdese – The Lady Devils stunned homestanding and higher seeded Draughn Tuesday, to advance to the 2nd round of the NCHSAA women’s playoffs. Swain held off furious Draughn comeback to take a 66-60 win.
Senior Mazie Helpman finished with a team high 31 points for the Lady Devils. Amaya Hicks had 10, while Maddie Spates had 9, Savana Smith and Mya Burrows-Kurr finished with 8 each.
Swain will face Uwharrie Charter in Asheboro on Thursday.
