Kernersville – The Maroon Devils turned in a strong showing at the NCHSAA 1A Cross Country Championships this past Saturday in Kernersville. Swain finished 6th out of 16 teams, and were the 2nd place finisher out of traditional public schools and the top finisher from WNC.
Sophomore Connor Brown turned in another outstanding performance. Brown was 13th overall with a time of 17:43.2 on what was a cold windy day. Connor Lambert was 2nd for the Devils finishing 28th overall with a time of 18:19.1. Just behind Lambert was Kane Jones, finishing 32nd with a time of 18:24.5. Cory Wolf was next coming in 63rd with a time of 19:12.3. Abhi Patel rounded out the scoring runners for Swain finishing 88th with a time of 20:10.4. Elijah Bryant (100th) and Jaxon McClung (104th) also ran for the Devils on the day.
The field featured 16 teams and 139 total runners.
