Hendersonville – Arizona Blankenship marked another accomplishment off of her to do list. Friday she became the first runner from Swain High to win the WNC Cross Country Carnival. The Carnival is the premier race for Cross Country as they host teams from all over NC, SC and Tennessee. Blankenship ran in the Champions Event that included 71 runners, finishing in a time of 19:40.55. Second place finisher was Ella Kepple of AC Reynolds with a time of 19:53.55
As a team the Lady Devils (108) were 4th overall behind Dorman (SC) (41 points), Carolina Day (75), and West Henderson (86). Emily Ulaner finished 17th overall with a time of 22:36.06 and Gracie Monteith was 24th with a time of 23:03.95.
On the guys side Connor Brown finished 51st out of 107 total runners, Brown’s time was 19:34.68.
