Greensboro – Swain High’s Matthew Gray won an individual NCHSAA State Championship in the Pole Vault this past Friday. Gray cleared 14′ to take home the gold. Joining Gray on the podium was senior Michael Winchester who finished second in the discus. Winchester’s throw was good for 130′ placing him second on the day.
The 4×800 relay team finished 8th on the day, while the 4×200 relay team was 10th.
Individually Austin Jenkins was 9th in the 100-meter hurdles (17.72). Landon Matz was 12th in the 100 meter dash (11.86). Dawson Cody was 11th in the Triple Jump (37’5.75″) and 15th in the Long Jump (17’11.5″).
