Robbinsville – Tuesday marked the first showdown of the season for the Lady Devils as they traveled to defending SMC Champion Robbinsville. It turned out to be a pitching dual between Swain’s Stacey Griggs and Robbinsville’s Memory Frapp. Robbinsville scored 5 runs on 6 hits to take a 5-1 win over the Lady Devils. With the win the Knights remain in first place with a 2-0 record.
Frapp struck out 9 and allowed 2 hits and 1 earned run, while Griggs struck out 7 allowed 6 hits and 4 earned runs.
Griggs also drove in the only Swain run on the day. In the sixth inning junior shortstop Brayden Taylor lined a solid single to left field for the Devils first hit of the game. Griggs followed with a line drive double to right center field scoring Taylor.
