Murphy – If the Maroon Devils are to play a game in this shortened season in the dry, it will have to be one of their two remaining games, as Friday saw another rain soaked game for Swain. This time it would cost them dearly as the Devils fumbled six times, losing three and two interceptions. Five turnovers against a really good Murphy team was way too much for the Devils to overcome. Murphy built and early lead then tallied out in the fourth quarter for a 39-7 win.
Swain’s loan score came on a Gabe Lillard 5 yard run. The Lillard run and Gavin Lanning kick would pull the Devils to within 7, at 14-7, just before halftime.
Murphy scored again in the third period, making the score 21-7 at the end of the third. The Bulldogs added the final 18, as insult to injury for the Devils, in the final quarter.
Carson Taylor paced Swain with 57 yards on 9 carries. Swain would finish the night with 124 yards of total offense.
On the defensive side Taylor was in on a team high 12 tackles, Elijah Watty finished with 11 and Damian Lossiah had 10.
