Bryson City – Swain County High School is pleased to announce that senior Natalie Stuckey has signed with the University of Louisville to continue her athletic career. Stuckey was recruited as an Athlete, with intentions of her being on the rowing team at Louisville.
So, how exactly does someone who has never rowed end up with essentially a rowing scholarship? Great question, the answer is that she was targeted because of her track career at Swain High. Her size and build along with her success in discus led the University of Louisville to ask her to film some specific workouts. After watching the workouts, combined with her background in track, Louisville offered her a scholarship.
“I am thrilled for this opportunity,” stated Stuckey. “I definitely want to thank my teammates and coaches for their support and help along the way. My family, who has been there every step of the way for me, I am so grateful for them and their support.”
