Bryson City – The Maroon Devils made it 2 in a row to start the basketball season with a 77-49 win over visiting Andrews on Saturday. Swain used a 29-0 run over the 1st and 2nd quarters to build a huge lead. Andrews could not dig out of the deficit. The Maroon Devils used a stifling defense to key their surge in the first half, where they built a 48-19 halftime advantage. Eight of Swain’s 11 players scored in the contest, and all saw significant playing time.
Junior Cooper Hyatt paced all scorers with a game high 15 points. Judaiah Littlejohn added 14 points, while Isaiah Collins finished with 13 points 7 rebounds. For the game the Maroon Devils had 20 assists as a team and forced 31 Andrews turnovers generating 39 points off of those turnovers. Bryson Holloway finished with a team high 14 points for the Wildcats, while Donavan Bateman and Gavin Wilson had 10 points each.
