Kituwah Farm – The Murphy Bulldogs took the Smoky Mountain Conference Championship wednesday. Murphy finished with a final score of 37, just outdistancing Swain who finished second with 41 points. Hayesville was 3rd followed by Robbinsville, Hiwassee Dam and Tri-County Early College.
The Bulldogs also took the top two spots in the individual standings. Senior Caleb Jones finished first with a time of 16:32.06, followed by Chase Pierce whose time was 16:34.98. Jones was named the Smoky Mountain Conference Runner of the Year.
Austin San Souci of Swain was 3rd with a time of 17:37.71, followed by Ryelan Snowden of Hayesville (17:48.05), Clayton Laney of Murphy (17:50.21) and Eli Roberts of Hayesville (17:57.44). These runners along with Pierce and Jones were named All Smoky Mountain Conference for their efforts.
Swain’s Kane Jones, Connor Lambert, Dhruv Senghani and Rider Mattox, along with Hayden Stewart and Xander Wachacha of Robbinsville, Preston Hyde of Hiwassee Dam and Liam Cook of Murphy were all Honorable Mention All Smoky Mountain Conference.
