Kituwah Farm – It was the narrowest of margins, only a single point, that seperated the Swain Middle School girls cross country team from Hayesville on Wednesday. Swain’s Emily Grey Stargell finished 14th overall, but 13 in scoring, four places ahead of her Hayesville counterpart. Stargell’s finish gave Swain the edge they needed to finish with 36 team points, just ahead of Hayesville’s 37.
Swain’s Arizona Blankenship remained undefeated on the season by taking 1st overall on the day. Blankenship finished with a time of 11:47.80. Annie Lewis was next for Swain finishing 6th overall (5th in scoring), followed by Angelina Lomelli at 9th (8th in scoring) and Audrey Monteith (10th overall, 9th scoring). Stargell rounded out the Swain scoring.
