This week the NCHSAA in conjunction with the Governor’s office released their plan for allowing athletes to resume workouts, albeit on a severely limited basis. Swain Athletic Director Neil Blankenship met with head coaches on Monday to begin formulating Swain County Schools plan. The voluntary workouts begin on Monday, June 15th and will be available for all Swain Athletes. For more details on times available as well as important specifics, please see the Swain High website, Maroon Devils Network, or Swain High Facebook page.
The NCHSAA requires, before participating, that each athlete fill out an Initial Screening Questionnaire. Parents you may fill out this form online for your student athlete by going to https://bit.ly/AthleticsHealthScreeningQuestionaire . The link will also be posted on the Swain High website, Maroon Devils Network, or Swain High Facebook page. You may also drop by the field house to complete a paper copy.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, workouts will be assigned in blended sessions with a specific time slot. Please contact the coach of your sport to schedule your workout time. Below is a list of sport specific coaches, as well as email address:

Our primary concern is for the health and safety of our student-athletes. Swain High Athletics will be implementing measures to fulfill this responsibility to our team members. We desire that both the parent and the athlete feel as safe as possible in this situation, so please be sure to ask any questions that you deem necessary so that you know that your child is as safe as possible. We would like to thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation as we navigate this time together. We look forward to being with our teams and athletes beginning next week.
