Bryson City – Swain entertained over 10 schools from all across the region this past Saturday at the Devil Duals. For the Maroon Devils it is another chance to practice their skills and hone in on improvement before the playoffs start. Enka took top honors in for the weekend, no surprise since the Jets are one of the top programs in WNC. Swain finished a solid 4-1 on the day, with their only loss coming to Enka. On the day the Devils downed Andrews, Rosman, Mountain Heritage and TC Roberson.
“We lost to Enka early,” commented Maroon Devil Head Coach Adam Jaimez, “and that was a byproduct of us not taking care of things that we control. Things such as effort, head and hand defense, movement on the bottom and being a good teammate. We talked about those things as a team and regrouped, and won our next three matches. It was a great weekend for us to grow and improve. We’ve put ourselves in a position to win the Smoky Mountain Conference, which is all you can ask for as a team. We hope everyone will come out on Thursday as we host Robbinsville, start time of 6 o’clock for varsity.”
