Bryson City – Highlands broke open a tied game by outscoring Swain 22-18 over the games final 8 minutes to take a 61-57 win over the Lady Devils on Tuesday. The game itself was close from the start with both teams exchanging the lead throughout the contest. At the end of 3 quarters it was tied at 39.
The duo of Mazie Helpman and Savana Smith paced the Lady Devls. Helpman finished with a double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds, while Smith had 18 points. Helpman also dished out 5 assists and blocked 4 shots. Senior Ashton Younce added 11 points and 6 rebounds for Swain.
Hayley Borino led all scorers with a game high 35 points, including shooting 18 of 22 from the free throw line.
