In the second half the Devils would keep the pressure up. Five and a half minutes into the half, Matz would dribble the ball inside the box and then drop it back to Burrell for the score. With 3 and a half minutes Cline would send a long ball into space in front of Freshman Matthew Gray for the score. “We played a really good game overall.” said Head Coach Scott Cline. “Our team came out ready to play from the start.”
On defense Sophomores Levi and Lucas Trantham led the way with 8 Clears/Steals each, followed by Senior Jonas Trejo with 6, Senior Aiden Pond and Junior Chase Burrell each with 5. In goal Junior Noel Wolf had 8 Saves. The Player of the Game for the Devils was Freshman Landon Matz. “In this game we could have had a lot of players selected for this.” said Cline. “Landon showed a very aggressive and persistent side that really helped the team.” Swain will have two away games next week as they travel to Hayesville on Monday for a game and then to Blue Ridge on Wednesday. Both games start at 4 PM.
