Bryson City – The Lady Devils made short work of visiting Highlands on Thursday. Swain took a 3-0 sweep by the scores of 25-11, 25-20 and 25-11. The win was like most of Swain’s this season, built on strong service and service receive plus an attack first mentality.
Seniors Kenzie Eagleman and Kaitlin Anthony turned in stellar performances from the service line. Eagleman tallied a game high 8 aces to key her performance. Meanwhile Anthony was more methodical and precise, only recording 2 aces, but continually keeping Highlands on their heels with well placed and effective serves.
Jenna Marr turned in another dominating performance. The junior finished with a game high 17 kills, to go along with 4 blocks and numerous deflections at the net. Ashton Younce and Anthony finished with 5 kills each. Younce also dished out 15 assists, while Katie Winchester finished with 10.
