Special to the Maroon Devils Network – The Lady Devils soccer team traveled to 2A Brevard High School to take on the Blue Devils on Tuesday evening. The Lady Devils scored their first goal one and half minutes into the game when Sophomore Isabelle Green found Senior Kyndall Cochran for a goal. Ten minutes later Cochran would take a corner kick and find Green for a header into the goal. Four minutes later Cochran would score again unassisted. With 19 minutes left in the first half Green would find Cochran one more time for a goal. In the second half Green would add a third assist when she found Freshman Avery Maples for a goal.
On defense, Sophomore Bri Ross led the way with 31 steals/clears, followed by Sophomore Kate Poss with 29, Junior Rebecca Duncan with 22 and Junior Peyton Hines with 15. In goal Sophomore Maddie Lay had 4 Saves. The player of the game for the Lady Devils was Kyndall Cochran. “Kyndall continues to show her leadership on and off the field.” said Head Coach Scott Cline. “After she scored her three goals we put her in a different position on the field and she did a great job there also.”
The Lady Devils improve to 7-2 overall and 3-0 in the Smoky Mountain Conference. They will travel to Highlands on Thursday at 6 pm for an important conference matchup
