Bryson City – One day removed from her roughest start of the season, Swain pitcher Stacey Griggs rebounded in fine fashion. Tuesday Griggs, and the Lady Devils, tossed her first no-hitter of the season. The Lady Devils backed the no-hitter to the tune of 15 runs over the course of 5 innings.
Griggs, was dominate from the circle, allowing no hits, while striking out a season high 12 Wildcat batters. She gave up one walk and hit a batter that prevented her from a perfect game. It marks the 4th no-hitter of Griggs career and the 37th in school history.
Kenzie Eagleman, Savana Smith and Mazie Helpman each drove in 3 runs for the Lady Devils. Eagleman went 3-4 with a pair of doubles and a pair of runs. Helpman drove in her 3 runs with the first home run of her career, a no doubter to left center. Smith had a double to go with her 3 rbi.
Ayianna West went 2-3 and scored a run, while fellow slap hitter Kendall Bowers reached base 3 times, by walks and being hit with a pitch, and scored 3 times.
