Special to the Maroon Devils Network – The Lady Devils soccer team hosted conference opponent Tri-County Early College on Monday night. The Lady Devils scored their first goal eleven minutes into the game when Senior Kyndall Cochran scored off a pass from Sophomore Isabelle Green. Three minutes later Green would find Cochran once again for the score. With 6 minutes left in the first half Green would find the back of the net for a score of her own. One minute later Green would score again off a pass from Sophomore Bri Ross. The Lady Devils would go into halftime with a 4-0 lead.
Three and a half minutes into the second half Green would connect with Cochran one more time. With 8 minutes left in the game Freshman Emily Ulaner would get her first goal of the season off a pass from Cochran. Three minutes left in the game Sophomore Kate Poss would find the back of the net bringing the score to 7-0. Tri-County would score a goal late in the game. The game would be finished with the Lady Devils up 7-1.
On defense, Sophomore Bri Ross led the way with 16 steals/clears, followed by Sophomore Kate Poss with 15, Freshman Jadyn Perez with 15, and Junior Peyton Hines with 11. The player of the game for the Lady Devils was Dhruti Senghani. “Dhruti has shown a real improvement in her game over the last few games.” said Head Coach Scott Cline. “She has stepped up the aggressiveness which has helped the team a lot.”
The Lady Devils improve to 6-2 overall and 3-0 in the Smoky Mountain Conference. They will travel to 2A Brevard on Tuesday at 5 pm and then will play at conference rival Highlands on Thursday at 6 pm.
