Canton – The Lady Devils got the victory on Monday, but it was Kenzie Eagleman’s performance that raised eyebrows. The junior went 5-5 with 3 triples and 9 runs batted in, to lead a Lady Devil attack that would produce 18 hits and 22 runs in six innings. Swain would down the Asheville Trail Blazers by the final score of 22-4 to notch their 5th win of the young season, but it was much closer for most of the game. Swain scored 11 runs in the 6th inning to break the game wide open.
Kendall Bowers went 4-4 scoring 5 times, with 3 stolen bases. Swain swiped 16 bases as a team, with Eagleman having 4 and Savana Smith with 3, while Ashton Younce, Mazie Helpman and Brayden Taylor had 2 steals each.
Savana Smith, Ashton Younce and Brayden Taylor all had 2 hits each. Younce drove in 3 runs with Taylor scoring 3 runs.
In the circle Stacey Griggs worked four full inning before giving way to Anneleise Cook. In her four innings Griggs was scruffed up for the first time this year, giving up 4 earned runs on 7 hits and 5 walks. Cook was solid in her two innings of work, giving up 1 hit and striking out 4.
