Bryson City – The Lady Devils staged a thrilling comeback in the 2nd half on Thursday. In the end the visiting Smoky Mountain squad was able to pull away to secure a 61-43 win. Swain took their first and only lead of the game at 41-39 early in the 4th quarter, but the Mustangs went on a 22-2 run to close out the game. Foul troubles contributed to the Lady Devils problems as Bri Ross and Taylor Collins both fouled out shortly after Swain took the lead.
Freshman Mazie Helpman scored a game high 23 points for Swain, Savanna Smith chipped in 9. Ashton Younce had a game high 11 rebounds to go with 3 assists, 4 steals and 3 blocked shots. Collins added 7 rebounds and 4 blocked shots to the Lady Devil cause.
Shea Sutton paced the Mustangs with 19 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists.
