Bryson City – The Maroon Devils took a 1st round win Wednesday, notching a 6-5 win over visiting Chatham Charter School. Swain scored 3 runs in the 2nd and added 3 more in the 4th then held on down the stretch for the playoff win. With it Swain travels to East Surry for second round action on Friday.
Ian Brooks and Hunter Call each had a pair of hits and drove in a pair of runs for the Devils. Dawson Chambers added a pair of rbi on a 2-run home run in the bottom of the 4th.
In the 7th Chatham Charter pulled to within one and had the game tying run to second base, before the Maroon Devils wiggled out of the jam and took the win.
Colby Taylor picked up the win, working all 7 innings while striking out 2 and walking 2, while scattering 7 hits.
