Linville – The Swain High Golf Team traveled to Linville, NC to participate in the 1A Regional Tournament at the private Linville Golf Club. This was the first regional match for four of the five players for the young Maroon Devil squad but managed to raise to the occasion and finished solo fourth with a team score of 416. Junior Nick Dole led the charge firing a 93. Dole finished 11th overall on the day. Senior Holden Petty finished his high school career carding a 100. Sophomore TJ Shuler (111) and Sophomore Isaac Baker (112) rounded out the top four scores. Also competing was freshman Ashton Buchanan with a 118. Coach Crisp commented, “I believe in my boys and their willingness to improve. We didn’t achieve our goal of making it to state, but our future looks bright. We placed second in our conference and fourth in regionals, I am proud to coach such determined athletes. We will be much tougher in 2019.” The team didn’t have anyone qualify for state.
