Bryson City – The Lady Devils won two more on Friday, finishing off their back-to-back double headers. This time Swain downed Blue Ridge Early College, taking both ends of the double header. Swain took game 1 by the score of 23-0 and then game 2 by the score of 22-0.
In game 1 it was Stacey Griggs again taking the circle for the Lady Devils. The freshman tossed her 2nd no-hitter in as many days, blanking the Bobcats over 5 innings of work. Griggs walked only 1 and struck out 11 in picking up the win.
At the plate the Lady Devils used all of their squad, pounding out 17 hits in 30 at bats. Alyssa Haymond and Kenzie Eagleman had 3 hits each, with Haymond driving in 5 runs and Eagleman 4. Grace Cabe, Stacey Griggs, Kele Eagleman and Kendall Bowers all had 2 hits each. Eagleman and Bowers each drove in a pair of runs. Raeann Hoke and Ashton Younce scored 3 runs each.
In game 2 Griggs worked 2 full innings before giving way to Kenzie Eagleman for what would prove to be the final inning. Griggs struck out 3 and did not yield a hit or walk. Eagleman finished off the no-hitter by working the final inning, striking out 1 while allowing no one to reach base.
Again it was Kenzie Eagleman and Alyssa Haymond doing the damage at the plate. Eagleman had 3 hits while Haymond finished with 2 and each drove in 4 runs a piece. Eagleman also scored 3 times. Grace Cabe, Kyndle Jones and Ashton Younce each had a pair of hits.
For the four games played Stacey Griggs had 3 no-hitters to her credit, one of which was a perfect game. She pitched all but one inning (15 innings total), striking out 29 and walking only 5 while giving up 1 hit.
At the plate senior Alyssa Haymond went 9 for 10 with 14 rbi and 6 runs scored over the 4 games. Kenzie Eagleman was 8 for 11 with 9 rbi and 9 runs scored and Grace Cabe went 8 for 13 with 8 runs scored.
The Lady Devils resume conference play this week with a pair of games against 1st place Robbinsville along with a game with Rosman.
