Bryson City – The Swain Lady Devils soccer team took on the Brevard Blue Devils at home on Monday night. It was the opening game of the season for the Swain Lady Devils. The Blue Devils jumped out to a 2-0 first half lead.
The Lady Devils answered with a goal early in the second half from Junior Kyndall Cochran assisted by Senior Mae Duncan. Brevard scored again to make the score 3-1. Later in the half a goal from Cochran was called back due to an offsides call. Later a Swain player was fouled in the box setting up a Penalty Kick attempt that Cochran converted. The game ended with the score of 6-2 with some late game goals from Brevard.
On the defensive end Freshman Bri Ross had 21 steals, followed by Junior Jessie Richards with 12, Sophomore Peyton Hines with 11, and Senior Sharlotte Queen-Jackson with 8. In goal Senior Brynnae Rhinehart and Freshman Maddie Lay combined for 13 Saves. The MaxPreps Player of the Game was Freshman Bri Ross.
