Bryson City – It was the kind of effort that words do not do justice. Swain, facing huge odds, found a way to take a decisive and impressive 56-39 win over visiting Franklin on Saturday. Heading into the game the Lady Devils were without the services of 3 players, leaving them only 8 players for the game. By halftime the Lady Devils were down to only 6, as two more players were injured during the first half. Despite the short numbers, and foul trouble, the Lady Devils took the game head-on, getting great production and effort from all 6 players.
There was solid production up and down the Swain lineup. Ashton Younce and Grace Cabe paced Swain in scoring with 14 points each. Lynsey Hicks finished with 13 points and Taylor Collins 9 points. Kierra Shook knocked down a pair of baseline jumpers, while Sharlotte Jackson added a big bucket of her own.
Collins finished with a game high 13 rebounds and 2 blocked shots, while Younce pulled down 8 rebounds. Hicks, double teamed much of the game, had 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Cabe had 6 rebounds, 5 steals and a pair of blocked shots.
