Kernersville – Swain’s Emma Pindur finished 16th at the NCHSAA 1A Cross Country State Championships this past weekend. Pindur, went out fast, perhaps too fast, finishing with a time of 20:59.47. Caitlyn Burkett, a junior from Franklin Academy, won the State Championship with a time of 19:16.94. Burkett was just ahead of North Stokes’ Abigail Hemric who finished 2nd with a time of 19:46.39.
Pindur’s chase of her 8th NCHSAA State Title will have to wait until track season, where she is the two-time defending State Champion in the 800-meter. In cross country this season she finished as the Western Regional Champion along with the Smoky Mountain Conference Champion.
