Rosman – The Maroon Devils built an early lead and then rode a strong performance from their defense to a 49-14 win over Rosman on Friday. Swain gave up 254 yards of offense to the Tigers, but kept them out of the endzone. On the offensive end the Devils doubled up the Tigers with nearly 500 yards of total offense, including a season high 418 yards on the ground.
On the defensive side, the Maroon Devils were very balanced. Ice Littlejohn had 8 tackles, while Brier Younce had 7 tackles and an interception. Will Paul, Nick Millsaps, Tanner Wiggins and Wren Gunter all registered 6 tackles. Will Paul has 2 sacks, 2 tackles for loss and returned a fumble 32 yards for a touchdown. Tanner Wiggins, Younce and Zeke Bradley each had an interception.
The Maroon Devil rushing attack featured a pair of 100-yard rushers on the night. Quarterback Brodie Bowman finished with 186 yards on 16 carries and 2 touchdowns, one of which was an 83 yard scamper in the first quarter. Freshman Bryce Sain notched his first 100 yard rushing performance with 131 yards on only 7 carries. Sain scored three touchdowns on the night, including a 60 yard dash for the Devils 3rd score of the game.
Through the air Zeke Bradley had 3 catches for 54 yards. Brier Younce nabbed 2 passes, one of which was a touchdown on a beautiful 15 yard strike from Brodie Bowman to the corner of the endzone. Bowman finished with 75 yards through the air on 5 of 10 passing.
