Bryson City – Thursday the Lady Devils hosted Hayesville in their final home match of the regular season. The Yellow Jackets swept Swain in straight sets by the scores of 29-27, 25-17 and 25-17. With the win the Jackets move to 8-3 in conference play, solidifying their themselves in second place. Swain falls to 4-6 in league play with 2 remaining matches next week.
The Lady Devils played well in the first set, and had several chances to put Hayesville away, but were unable to seal the deal. Swain was ultra aggressive in the first set, keeping Hayesville’s attack in neutral. The Lady Devils had 15 kills in the first set, which was more than they had in the next 2 sets combined.
Grace Cabe paced Swain with 9 kills, while Makayla Riordan had 5, Kaitlin Anthony and Taylor Collins had 4 each and Brette Pattillo finished with 3. Ashton Younce dished out 15 assists.
