Murphy – The Swain soccer team traveled to Murphy on Wednesday night looking to avenge an early season loss to the Bulldogs. It was a hard fought game that saw the Bulldogs take a quick 2-0 lead early in the 1st half. The Devils responded quick with a penalty kick from Junior Thiago Florencio just two minutes after the Bulldogs second score. Nine minutes later Swain answered again with a pass from Thiago to Junior Trey Bowman for the finish. Swain was not finished with the scoring in the first half. Sophomore Aiden Pond made a long pass up to Senior Brody Randall for the last goal of the half.
In the second half the Bulldogs came out ready to score. Fourteen minutes into the second half they once again found the back of the net. With five minutes left in the second half Thiago got fouled outside the box. Freshman Zachary Cline took the free kick and scored the winning goal to clinch the win for the Devils.
On the defensive end Freshman Anthony Reyes had 14 steals, followed by Sophomore Aiden Pond with 13, Junior Joey King with 11, and Freshman Chase Burrell with 10. In goal Freshman Noel Wolf recorded 10 Saves. The MaxPreps Player of the Game was Sophomore Aiden Pond.
