Cherokee – Wednesday’s Cherokee Swain soccer contest was a very physical match played on a rough playing surface, following the heavy rains of the past few days. The Braves got the biggest break of the game as they were awarded a penalty kick after a Cherokee player tripped in the penalty box. Cherokee converted the penalty kick to go up 1-0. The Braves scored 2 more goals before the half to take a 3-0 lead, before eventually winning 4-0, in the first conference game for either squad.
Aiden Pond finished with a team high 12 clears for the Maroon Devils, followed by Preston Robinson’s 8 and Joey King’s 7. On offense the Devils had 13 shots on goal compared to Cherokee’s 11. Thiago Florencio had 4 shots on goal, while Trey Bowman had 3 for the Devils.
Robin says
There’s always next game guys! If you did your best individually then you should be proud, if not, then you’ve got a goal for next game. Your only competition is YOU. Maroon Machine!!
