Cullowhee – This past Saturday Swain’s cross country teams competed in the WCU Cross Country Festival. The Lady Devils finished 3rd on the day, behind first place Smoky Mountain and second place Murphy. Swain tallied 88 points, while Smoky finished with 27 and Murphy 56.
Swain’s Emma Pindur finished 2nd overall with a time of 20:27.47, just behind Smoky’s Jade Sterling (20:26.30), and just ahead of Murphy’s Peyton Wood (20:39.83). The Lady Devils next finisher was Aylen Meyers who finished 17th with a time of 23:28.55. Rebecca Duncan was just behind Meyers, finishing 19th with a time of 23:41.54.
The Lady Devils were tightly bunched following Duncan. Phynley Meyers (26:00.44) was 34th, with Dhruti Senghani (26:53.58) was 35th, Mallerie Clampitt (27:25.64) was 37th and Sierra Jackson (29:00.70) was 39th.
The Maroon Devils finished 6th in the men’s competition. Brendan Ulaner (19:34.62) and Lucas Brown (19:38.57) were the top two finishers for the Devils. Ulaner was 21st and Brown was 22nd.
Preston Robinson was next, coming in 29th with a time of 20:19.98. Dhruv Senghani (20:38.33) was 31st, followed by Jackson Warshaw (42nd, 22:07.24), Alec Lay (44th, 22:27.38), Cef Kilebrew (49th, 24:13.38) and Ashton Buchanan (50th, 24:25.99)
