Bryson City – Swain opened conference play Thursday by hosting Robbinsville. The Black Knights stole the show stunning the Lady Devils 3 sets to 1. It was the Knights who were the clear aggressors, putting the Lady Devils on their heels all night. Robbinsville’s aggressive attacking lead to wins by the scores of 25-19, 25-23, 22-25 and 25-21.
Robbinsville rode the hot night of middle hitter Erin Teesatuskie, who finished with a team high 16 kills, including 6 in the first set.
Swain got a huge performance from senior middle hitter Grace Cabe. Cabe tallied a season high 23 kills for the Lady Devils. Sophomore Taylor Collins finished with 7 kills. Ashton Younce tallied 5 aces from the service line, while Makayla Riordan finished with 5 kills and 2 aces.
The Lady Devils fall to 3-2 (0-1) and will travel to Rosman on Tuesday.
In junior varsity action the Lady Devils picked up their first win with a 2-0 sweep of the Knights.
