Bryson City – One day removed from a thrilling 3-2 win over Pisgah, the Lady Devils returned home to face Franklin. Swain put on a show for the home crowd by taking a 3-0 sweep of the visiting Panthers by the scores of 25-18, 25-21, and 25-23.
Each time Franklin would go on a run, the Lady Devils would respond with a run of their own. In game one Franklin jumped to an early 2-0 advantage, but Swain took control, going on an 8-0 run. After that run the Lady Devils would not relinquish the lead in Game 1. Game 3 saw the Panthers get off to a hot start outscoring Swain 5-0. But the Lady Devils fought back to tie the game at 5, in what would prove to be a back and forth affair in game 3.
Swain was once again solid on the service line, recording as many errors (6) as they had aces. Alissa Smith and Kaitlin Anthony had 2 aces each for the Devils.
At the net Grace Cabe finished with 7 kills and 6 solo blocks. It was Cabe who seemed to deliver each time the Lady Devils needed points. Sophomore Taylor Collins also had a solid night at the net with 3 kills and 3 solo blocks. Ashton Younce also finished with 3 kills to go along with 6 assists, while fellow setter Mykala Riordan finished with 16 assists.
On the back row seniors Brette Pattillo and Kyndle Jones were both solid all night. Pattillo finished with 11 digs, while Jones had 8.
The win started a string of four straight home matches for the Lady Devils. Next up will be Smoky Mountain on Thursday.
