Greensboro – Saturday, on the state’s grandest stage, Swain’s Emma Pindur added another chapter to her incredible Track and Field career. The junior won her second straight NCHSAA State 1A 800 meter championship, and for good measure added relay State Titles in the 4×400 and 4×800. With the 3 State Titles, Pindur runs her career total to 7 State Championships, most ever by a female runner at Swain High School.
Joining Pindur on the State Championship podium were 4×800 team members Lynsey Hicks, Rebecca Duncan, Lily Richards, and Mallerie Clampitt (alt). The 4×400 team members were Lynsey, Maggie Burns, Mallerie Clampitt and Sierra Jackson (alt). The 4×800 meter team had a time of 10:10.14, while the 4×400 team finished with a 4:13.10. Swain finished 9th in the 4×200 with a time of 1:51.32, while the 4×100 team was 12th with a time of 53.87.
Pindur took the 800 meter State Championship in a time of 2:19.26.
Senior Kathryn Brown finished as NCHSAA State Runner-up in the Discus. Brown’s toss was 124’6″.
Sophomore Ayianna West finished 15th in the 100 meters with a time of 13.66, and freshman Rebecca Duncan, was 14th in the 1600 meters with a time of 14.04.21.
On the men’s side all of Swain’s competitors were in the pole vault. Tanner Wiggins finished 3rd overall by clearing 12’6″. Brodie Bowman was 4th with a jump of 12′, and Jacob Waldroup was 6th with a jump of 11′.
