Cherokee – Swain scored 4 times in their half of the 5th inning to break open a 4-2 game. The Devils added another insurance run in the 6th on their way to taking a 9-3 Smoky Mountain Conference win over Cherokee on Tuesday.
In the 5th Swain loaded the bases with one out. Colby Taylor and Dylan Smith singles were sandwiched around Dawson Lowe reaching on a fielders choice. Trae Bradley and Gaige Southards followed with singles that cleared the bases. Bradley would later score the 4th run of the inning on a Craig Cutshaw single.
Bradley finished 2-4 with a pair of runs and an rbi on the day. Gaige Southards went 3-5 with 3 rbi and a run scored. Mikel Laws and Dylan Smith were both 2-3, with Smith scoring 2 runs.
Mikel Laws, Dawson Chambers and Darren Blankenship combined, on the mound, to strike out 11 and give up only 1 earned run on the day. Laws picked up the win.
