Bryson City – The Maroon Devil golf team took full advantage of hosting the first round of the Smoky Mountain Conference Championships. Swain posted their lowest 18 hole total ever with a 299. Hayesville sits in 2nd with a 335 and Murphy is 3rd with 346.
Grant Shuler and Jack Cornblum both shot a 1 under par 68 for their opening round. Holden Petty was 8 over with a 77, while Cameron Hampton came in with an 86. Brett Treadway posted an 89.
Second round action is today at The Ridges.
