Rabun Gap – Tuesday Taylor Day tossed the first perfect game for Swain since Shelby Parker did it back in 2011. Georgia High School rules specifies that a game is over after 3 innings if a team has a 15 run lead. So Day’s perfect game covered 3 innings as the Lady Devils took an 18-0 win. Day struck out 6 of the 9 batters she faced on the day, with the other 3 being ground balls that never left the infield.
Offensively the Lady Devils tallied their 18 runs with 11 walks and 8 hits. Day did it with her bat as well, going 2-2 with an rbi. Joining her were Grace Cabe and Kyndle Jones who were both 2-2. Jones drove in 4 runs and smashed the first home run of her career over the right centerfield fence in the 2nd inning. Cabe scored 3 times and reached base in each of her 4 at bats.
Alicia Green, Gabby Jones, Olivia Watty-Harris and Kendall Bowers each scored twice, while Alyssa Haymond and Kenzie Eagleman drove in a pair of runs each.
Sheldon Day says
Way to go baby girl. I’m so proud of you Taylor
