Cherokee – The Maroon Devils had three players named to the All Smoky Mountain Conference Basketball team for 2016-17. Seniors Phinehas Little and Evan Bradley along with sophomore Zeke Bradley were the selections.
Joining the Maroon Devils trio on the All Conference team were: Dillan Phillips (Andrews); Tye Mintz and Holden Straughan (Cherokee); Josh Cottrell (Hayesville); Tyler Long and Reece Adams (Robbinsville); Harper Reese and Deland Thomas (Rosman).
Swain seniors Darren Blankenship and Clayton Catolster were both named Honorable Mention All Smoky Mountain Conference selections.
