Bryson City – When you are having the type of season the Maroon Devils are, every win will not be a thing of beauty. Tuesday was definitely not as the Devils took a 85-63 conference win over Robbinsville. The cost was high for the Devils though as they finished the game without two starters, who left with injuries.
Clayton Catolster left the game in the second quarter after taking a shot to the mouth in an attempt to draw a charge. Early in the third quarter Evan Bradley was undercut on a layup falling hard on his hip and back. Neither player returned to the game.
Swain took control in the first half holding a firm 20 point lead in the first half. Robbinsville turned up the heat in the third quarter and whittled the lead down to 12 points, going on a 12-0 run. But the Devils kicked into another gear, spurred by their bench.
Seth Parker and Zeke Bradley sandwiched inside baskets around a Brier Younce three to push the Devils lead back to 20 points. Then reserve Nolan Arkansas broke the Black Knights back with back to back three pointers to push the Devils lead back to 26 to open the fourth quarter.
Evan Bradley finished with a game high 20 points for Swain. Phinehas Little had 14, while Brier Younce had 11. Younce added 7 assists, 5 rebounds and 5 steals. Seth Parker finished with a team high 6 rebounds.
