Bryson City – Swain took their 7th straight win to open the season Tuesday with an 84-63 win over Murphy. Despite being shorthanded due to illness the Maroon Devils never flinched going on a 22-11 run in the 2nd period to pull away from the Bulldogs.
Swain was without leading scorer Phinehas Little as well as Brett Treadway, both were out with illness. Brier Younce started for Little, and posted a 17 point 9 assist stat line. Nolan Arkansas stepped into Younce and Treadway’s usual role and finished with 8 points and 6 rebounds.
Swain posted five players in double figure scoring. Younce and Evan Bradley paced the Devils with 17 points each. Zeke Bradley added 14 points, while Seth Parker and Clayton Catolster each finished with 10 points.
The Maroon Devils continued their ball sharing play with 32 team assists on the evening. Leading the way was Brier Younce with 9 and Evan Bradley with 8. Clayton Catolster pulled down 8 rebounds for the Devils.
