Bryson City – The Lady Devils trailed by only two points at 28-26 at the half of Tuesday’s Smoky Mountain Conference game. In the 2nd half the visiting Bulldogs of Murphy pulled away outscoring Swain 35-10 over the final 16 minutes to post a 63-36 win.
The Lady Devils, who were playing without leading scorer and rebounder Grace Cabe, were out rebounded 43-24 by the Bulldogs. Murphy senior Emma Stroup finished with a double double of 15 points and 10 rebounds, while Aubrey Clapsaddle finished with 16 points and 7 assists.
Swain got a season high 13 points from junior Alissa Smith, to go along with 4 steals. Lynsey Hicks dished out 5 assists, while Gabby Jones pulled down 5 rebounds for the Lady Devils.
