Bryson City – The Maroon Devils got off to another hot start Friday, scoring 21 first quarter points. Swain then cruised to a 35-15 Homecoming win over visiting Rosman, for their 4th straight win.
Swain quarterback Brodie Bowman hit Seth Parker for a pair of first quarter touchdowns. The first covered 37 yards, while the second went for 39 yards. Chris Miller added a 7 yard touchdown run to round out the Devils scoring in the first quarter.
Bowman continued his hot play in the second quarter, as he tossed two more touchdown passes. The first of those came on a 19 yard strike to Holden Petty. The Bowman to Petty strike capped a 10 play 70 yard drive. Bowman finished the Swain scoring on a 51 yard pass to Brier Younce. Holden Petty made good on all five extra point attempts.
For the game Bowman finished 11 of 16 for 211 yards and 4 touchdowns. Just for good measure the junior signal caller rushed for 22 yards on 8 carries. Dylan Smith finished with a team high 32 yards on 4 carries, while Chris Miller and Keshaun Beaner each finished with 27 yards.
On defense the Devils limited Rosman to 115 yards rushing, most of which came against Swain’s reserves in the second half. Ice Littlejohn (7 tackles) and Wren Gunter (6) anchored the Swain defense. Johnny Woodard and Corbin Wildcatt finished with 5 tackles each.
