Bryson City – The NCHSAA just released that this Friday October 21st will be Hurricane Matthew Relief Assistance night. With the NCHSAA asking all schools that will, to participate and help raise much needed funds for disaster area schools in the hard hit Eastern portion of the state. As such the NCHSAA has promised to match funds raised up to $20,000.
Swain High School Athletic Director Neil Blankenship released the following statement: “We feel and care deeply for our brothers and sister schools who have been hit so hard by the remnants and rain from hurricane Matthew. This friday between the 1st and 2nd quarters of our home game with Rosman, we would ask that the Maroon Nation make donations that will go directly to schools most impacted by this disaster. If you can do so, please help, there are schools that are in dire need. It is during times like this that it is so important to demonstrate what being Maroon Strong is all about!”
