Cherokee- With no school that morning, Swain woke up preparing for their preview conference race in Cherokee last Wednesday, October 5th which would show what the conference meet in two weeks will be like. The afternoon weather was cooler than most leveling out at 80 degrees. The middle school XC race had a few runners who had trouble finding the right course and ran about half a mile more before finishing a regular 2 mile race. Luckily, our high schoolers ran the correct course. With the shot of the gun marking the start, our boys were off. Our Maroon Devils placed 4th only 6 points behind their XC rival, Murphy. A few minutes before the boys ended their 5K, our Lady Devils were doing their strides getting ready for take off. At the end of the last race, our Lady Devils finished as 2nd behind the 2A Smoky Mountain but beating everyone in their 1A conference. Their next meet will be Wednesday, October 12th in Robbinsville. This meet will finish the regular season off and Wednesday, October 19th will be our Devils’ Smoky Mountain Conference Championship meet.Come and support as our Devils defend their championship titles!
