Bryson City- The Maroon Devils’ soccer team won their home game against Andrews last Monday night. Swain kept Andrews on their heals the whole game and had plenty shots on goal. With Andrews short players, Head Coach Matt Hampton played the game down one making the Swain vs Andrews ratio 10v9 instead of the normal soccer ratio of 11v11. Sophomore Trey Bowman took advantage of this by scoring the first goal within 2 minutes of the starting whistle. Senior Carter Davis joined in and had the last goal of the half by an assist from Bowman making the score 2-0. With 16 minutes left in the game, Davis scored again by an assist from Sophomore Asija Myers. The last goal of the night was by Bowman once more in the last 4 minutes of play making the final score of the game 4-0 for Swain.
Through it was a win, some players were not satisfied with the team’s level of play and have resolved to work on improving. With this win, Swain’s conference record is now 2-1.
Tomorrow they travel to face a tough Murphy team starting at 6PM.
