Cherokee – Saturday the Lady Devils added to their already impressive resume by taking the NCHSAA Western Regional 1A Track Championships. Swain easily outdistanced 2nd place Robbinsville by the score of 140.5 to 77.5.
The Lady Devils swept all 4 relay events to key their win.
Other regional champions included: Kathryn Brown discus (110’11”), Grace Cabe 300-meter hurdles (50.29), Maleeah Langstaff 400-meter dash (59.25), and Emma Pindur 800-meter run (2:26.99).
The Lady Devils will now compete for the NCHSAA 1A State Championship this coming weekend.
In boys action the Maroon Devils finished 3rd in the NCHSAA Western Regional Championships. Swain was behind 1st place Hayesville, and Murphy who was second.
Individual Western Regional Champions were Cooper Reinert in the pole vault (12’6″) and Parker Chatham in the 3200-meter run (10:32.03).
