Pilot Mountain – East Surry scored 5 runs over the first two innings and had strong enough pitching to make those 5 stand up in taking an eventual 9-1 win over Swain in the 1st round of the NCHSAA softball playoffs.
Swain managed just 2 hits on the day, one by Erin Jenkins and the other from Alicia Green. Green’s single in the 5th scored Gabby Jones from 2nd for Swain’s only run of the day. Jones had reached earlier in the inning via a walk.
Swain finishes the season with a 10-10 overall record.
